Finally dug out one of the old hard drives that was linked up to my old PC, the one that’s been sat idle for half a dozen years. I had my old photos on there, backed up on drives in the PC and three external drives, but realised that I should back them up online, just in case. I’ve got a ton of storage options - OneDrive, Google Photos - so will probably just dump them all in both.
What I should do is go through them and have a bit of clearout, rather than just dumping the 250GB+ in its entirety.
But who has the time?
It does make me wonder though - what will happen to all these thousands of photos? Will they ever get seen again? The kids are unlikely ever to look at them when I’m gone, and will probably never even realise they’re there. Digital ephemera, snapshots of a life, of lives lived.
